The Lady Beavers came to Woodinville for the last league game before the Holiday Break. It was also the first home quad of the season for the Lady Falcons. The band was here again and the gym was filling up quickly. It was the perfect environment for high school basketball.
Unfortunately, the ladies from Woodinville would get off to their worst start of the season. The girls struggled shooting early. They finished the first quarter tied at 5 with the visitors from Ballard. It was the first time all year the Falcons had been held to single digit points in a quarter. Also frustrating was some early foul trouble. Leading scorer Melissa Gilkey was saddled with fouls and spent most of the day watching.
The pace of the game picked up in quarter number two. Carmen Vasilatos came off the bench to hit two big three pointers and sophomore Ali Forde continued to dominate inside. Ali had 14 points at the half and would finish with 25 for the game. Both teams combined for 37 points after a 10 point showing in the first. The score at the half was 26-21 in favor of Woodinville.
The third quarter has been a focus for the Falcons all year. They put on a strong performance and outscored the girls from Ballard 19-4 to finish the stanza leading 45-25. Final game score was 59-34. Amanda Frost and Carmen Vasilatos provided the scoring punch from the perimeter with 13 and 11 points respectively. Crystal Nybo added 6 assists. Ali Forde had the first ever triple double for the Woodinville girls with 25 rebounds, 12 rebounds, and 10 steals.
The 33 team steals for the Lady Falcons on the evening was a new school record for steals in a game. Both Ali Forde and Amanda Frost had 10 each breaking the old individual mark as well.
